Book Blurb:
A missing woman. Two hit men. When every second counts, who will survive?
In the stark but beautiful wilds of northern New Mexico, a couples' retreat at a luxury resort turns into a chilling nightmare when a woman vanishes. Skip tracer Riley MacLeod and private investigator Greyson Chadwick pose as a couple to hunt for clues that might reveal the missing woman's location. Those leads uncover a harrowing truth: They're not the only ones looking for her. What begins as a normal tracking case turns into a deadly chase when they, too, become the hunted.
As Riley and Greyson work together, their partnership ignites a tumultuous attraction, but Greyson's secrets prevent him from acting on his feelings for her, and Riley can't bring herself to fully trust him. Delving deeper into the case, they find themselves fighting not only for justice and the chance at a loving relationship . . . but also for their very survival.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Two Seconds Too Late is an adrenaline-fueled, action-packed—Dani Pettrey has delivered another thrilling ride.
Riley MacLeod is a skip tracer for her family’s company. Unwilling to sit on the sidelines, she is an equal member alongside her brothers, Deckard and Christian, and their business partner and P.I., Greyson Chadwick, whom Riley admires. She is back in the field after having to shoot a man out to kill her and struggling with the guilt of taking a man’s life, even if it was self-defense.
When a friend leaves a mysterious package on her doorstep and disappears, Riley can't sit still. There is a mystery to be solved and a friend to be found. Battling demons from his past, Greyson usually stays out of the action. But Riley’s heading out into the field, and someone needs to watch her back, and who better than the man who secretly has feelings for her, something he would never act on because he has secrets too dark to bring to light.
Posing as a couple, they head to a luxury retreat to see if they can find clues leading them to Riley‘s missing friend. Each clue pulls them deeper into a mystery that puts them in more danger.
This book is full of non-stop action, danger, and high stakes. I didn’t want to put it down. Riley and Greyson make a good team who respect each other and work well together. I enjoyed watching Riley and Greyson struggle to maintain their professional distance while attraction grows between them. I also enjoyed seeing glimpses of her brother Deckard and Christian again. As I’ve come to expect, Dani Pettrey beautifully blends her action-packed storytelling style with thrilling suspense and heartwarming romance into a story we get the privilege of reading. Highly recommend!
